What to see at MOCA
Even before going in, the museum makes an impression with its granite architecture and the large sculptures around the building. Inside, the collection runs from the second to the fourth floor and focuses on Thai modern and contemporary painting and sculpture, with artists such as Lampu Kansanoh, Denpong Wongsaroj and Bundit Padungvichian. The fifth and top floor is dedicated to international works.
The highlight for many visitors is the monumental triptych by Prateep Kochabua, a painting whose sheer scale is hard to forget. On the ground floor you will find the temporary exhibition rooms, the museum store and a café. Photography for personal use is generally allowed, but flash, tripods and video are not permitted in most galleries.
MOCA is one of our three contemporary art museums to see in Bangkok, together with the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). For the full map of venues, browse our guide to art galleries and museums in Bangkok or this week edition of Bangkok art events this week.
