As the city dries out after last weekend's floods, Bangkok's galleries are back with a full week of openings and talks. New solo shows arrive at Neu Contemporary, Number 1 Gallery and KICHgallery, Bangkok Kunsthalle hosts three conversations, and Dib Bangkok opens its workshop program for Giving Life. What Lies Beneath: Art, Politics and Society in "Spirits Melt to Flesh"
Venue: Bangkok Kunsthalle
Talk: 29 September (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
An in-depth conversation with artists Anthony Chin and Taiki Sakpisit, curator Sam I-shan and historian Thongchai Winichakul on the hidden histories running through the exhibition Spirits Melt to Flesh, from colonial and wartime legacies to myth, nationalism and spirituality. Thongchai's book Siam Mapped is the starting point for Chin's three-part installation of the same name. The talk takes place on a Tuesday, when the Kunsthalle is normally closed, and doors open at 5 PM so participants can see the show first. Minami Shibata (presented by Ming Artspace)

Ming Artspace presents the second Thai exhibition of Japanese artist Minami Shibata, on view for two weeks at Siam Takashimaya inside ICONSIAM.
Talk: Asma Sentira on art management and local creative ecosystems

How can art take root where networks, resources and local support are still taking shape? Arts manager Asma Sentira draws on years of connecting Bangkok's art community, through projects such as Galleries' Nights Bangkok, alongside her work in Satun with Satun in My Mind and Satun Creative Fest. She discusses art, community, public support and the creative economy, and the challenge of accessing state funding that remains concentrated in the capital. In Thai.
Nostalgia Surfer
Venue: KICHgallery
Exhibition Dates: 2 October – 14 November, opening reception 2 October (6:30 PM – 9:00 PM)
The first solo exhibition by Jarb (Mongkol Srithanaviroj) marks the artist's return to painting by hand after more than ten years and a new chapter with the airbrush. Twelve new works, made over a full year, channel 1980s aesthetics and city pop. KICHgallery is on Soi Ruamrudee 2 (BTS Ploenchit, exit 4) and opens from 3 PM; note the gallery is closed until 1 October.
FIELD THE SUN
Venue: m Galleria
Exhibition Dates: 3 October – 16 November, opening reception 3 October (5:30 PM onwards)
Jirasak Tariyachai explores faith through deities, colour and form, channelling the power, awe and hope that people feel toward something greater than themselves. Rooted in Thai contemporary painting, the works end up turning the search for the divine back toward the faith within each of us. The show is at m Galleria 2, mangoSTEEMS Arts and Learning Center, on the third floor of River City Bangkok.
Shedding Skin & Broken Bones
Venue: Neu Contemporary
Exhibition Dates: 3 October – 8 November, opening reception 3 October (5:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
Neu Contemporary opens a new solo exhibition by Sandy Chuchat at its space in the N22 art compound on Soi Naradhiwas 22, a good excuse to also visit the neighbouring galleries.

Venue: Number 1 Gallery
Exhibition Dates: 3 – 25 October, opening reception 3 October (6:00 PM onwards)
Thanakan Klannakorn treats myth as a space where many meanings meet and negotiate. Images and narratives from different cultures are layered and rearranged, blurring the lines between history and imagination, belief and fact. The show asks who decides which stories are remembered as truth and which are pushed to the margins. At Number 1 Gallery, Silom 21.
Concrete Memory – Architectural Photograph Workshop
Venue: Dib Bangkok
Workshop: 3 October (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
Bangkok's modernist buildings from the 1940s to the 1980s are being quietly demolished, and for years photographer Foto_momo has documented what remains of them. In this hands-on workshop, participants photograph Dib Bangkok itself, exploring how its geometry and materials can hold traces of memory and change. GOTHIKA
Venue: Chaloem La Art House
Exhibition Dates: 3 – 31 October, opening party 3 October (6:00 PM onwards)
A group exhibition in which character artists reinterpret their signature creations through the atmosphere and aesthetics of the Gothic. The opening night includes the chance to meet the artists and a lucky draw with prizes from the participating artists. The gallery also hosts a Gothic Night on 10 October and a Halloween Gothic Party on 31 October, both from 6 PM. One minute from BTS Ratchathewi, exit 2.
Octave Maze Live 2026

Beyond the Akha House: From Heritage to Cultural Diversity
Venue: Bangkok Kunsthalle
Talk: 4 October (3:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
What do familiar images of Akha culture, such as wooden houses and handwoven, embroidered clothing, mean to Akha people's lives today? Ardang Arjor of the Council of Indigenous Peoples in Thailand and Jesada Netawong of the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre discuss what remains and what is disappearing, and why cultural diversity matters to society as a whole. Venue: Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center (RCAC)
Exhibition Dates: 4 October – 1 November
An exhibition dedicated to the spirit of King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, with works by Bhira Phokthavi, in Exhibition Room 5 on the second floor of RCAC. While there, don't miss the ground floor show of the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture's 2026 acquisitions, with works by 21 Thai artists including Rirkrit Tiravanija, Som Supaparinya and Sakarin Krue-On, on view until 30 November.
Still Life, Still Painting – A Landscape Painting Workshop
Venue: Dib Bangkok
Workshop: 4 October (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
To paint a landscape is to decide what matters: what falls inside the frame and where the eye comes to rest. In this guided workshop led by The Paint Story of Canvas, participants paint from observed scenes, using the slow discipline of looking to discover details of the world around them.
